Large Screen Theatre Feasibility Study,
Haines Junction

This report examines the feasibility of constructing a large screen theatre in Haines Junction. The community views the theatre project as an opportunity for economic development consistent with the goal of promoting Kluane Country and Haines Junction as a tourist destination. The theatre is intended to be both another tourist attraction for visitors to Kluane Country and second, a community facility which can also be used to stage local plays, host conventions or other community events. It is hoped the theatre can become self-supporting, complementing existing community infrastructure.

Evaluation of the 1992 Alaska Highway Anniversary
This evaluation took a proactive approach, reflecting the recognition that the planning process for the anniversary was a learning experience. No one had previously attempted to host an event for a 1,500 mile long site. The evaluation team assembled data from over 75 interviews of participants in the anniversary planning process and event itself. The analysis also relied on an extensive review of the Commission files, secondary sources, and an analysis of tourism sector performance for 1992.

Canada/Yukon Agri-food Green Plan Evaluation Report
Agriculture Canada and the Government Yukon commissioned this 1997 evaluation of the agri-food component of the Canada/Yukon Green Plan Agreement. The program goal was to foster an environmentally sustainable agri-food industry in the Yukon. The results of our evaluation helped stakeholders to devise appropriate future program partnerships.

Licensing & Certification Study

This study explores the proposition put forward by some adventure tourism operators that wilderness guide licensing and certification is needed for this sector of the Yukon tourism industry. It begins from the premise that wilderness is a non-renewable resource with intrinsic ecological and economic value.
